Fallyn sat cross legged on the grass, a book in his lap. He knew he should be socializing. He was in a new place, with new friends. But... well. In truth Toby had been his only friend. He'd never been good at getting friends. People didn't understand his humor. People didn't understand him. Between his dark sense of humor and his somewhat Gothic interests, it was a wonder he'd found anyone who was so wonderful. And then... "Lost him," Fallyn whispered.
With a long sigh, he flipped the next page in the book. The book was on the origins of a brand of demon which consumed dogs. It was really a fascinating read. He was looking forward to this huge library they had here. He had so much to learn.

Zildjain had just finished her running for the day and was headed back to the dorm. She desperately needed a shower but saw someone sitting on the knoll by himself. She hated seeing people alone and wanted to introduce herself. He must have been a student with all the books he had so she figured they would be working together.
"Hey,' she said, taking her ear phones out of her ears. 'What's going on?" She knew that the guy probably thought she was weird for just coming on so strong but she was blunt like that. Zildjain said on the grass with her legs stretched out in front her her.
Her hair was in a pony and strands falling into her face. She was wearing a red sports bra and black running shorts with white Nikes. Her make up was basic with just a touch of eye liner and her nails were painted black.

Fallyn jumped when the girl suddenly said hi. He hadn't heard her coming which was probably not so much with the good considering what line of work he was in. He had to learn to pay attention if he was going to be a watcher. Or else he might end up dead and that would be the opposit of what he wanted.
Looking up at the girl, Fallyn gulped at her outfit. Was she just wearing a bra? She must have been running. Stil, Fallyn found himself embarced. It'd been a long time since he'd looked at a women and found them to be good looking. His whole world had been built around Toby after all.
"Good morning," Fallyn said. "And nothing is going on. I'm just catching up on some reading." He looked up at the school and then back at the girl. "Sorry, do you... are you a slayer?"

"Is it obviously,' Zildjain questioned, pulling her hair down and mussing it around. 'Yes, I am. I'm Zildjain.' Zildjain wrapped her ear phone cord around her iPod and smiled. 'Are you a..watcher?" she questioned.
Unknowing as to why, Zildjain got a very watchery feeling from him. He was cute in a watcher sort of way and she saw the way he was looking at her with a hint of a blush.

"Lovely to meet you, Zildjain." He nodded and then chuckled slightly when she seemed to know he was a Watcher. "Is it the suit? And yes, I'm a Watcher. I'm Fallyn."
He moved his book away a little. He was trying very hard not to keep looking at her. He felt it was rude. But he did turn to meet her eye. "So are you from Paris or...?"

Zildjain smiled when he asked if it was the suit. "No, I'm from America.' Zildjain answered, noticing that he wasn't looking at her. 'Am I making you uncomfortable with the whole...not clothing?' She asked, looking down at her attire. 'I just don't like wearing much clothing when I work out. I just feel like clothes hinder the work out."

"No, no!" He smiled. "I'm just not used to it. But then again I've led a rather shelterd life." He hoped he hadn't offended her. Really that was the last thing in the world he wanted. "So you are from the States, huh? How are you adjusting to the culture shock?"

Zildjain smiled as he said she wasn't making him incomfortable. "It's definitely a culture shock but it's dealable. I've always wanted to travel and Paris is the best place to be.' Zildjain looked at the book she had interrupted him from. 'So, what about you? Do you like it here?"

Fallyn followed her eyes down to the book. He was sure it must look very boring to people who were not him. Did he like it here? That was such a loaded question. "I suppose I do, yes." He smiled at her. "It's what I always wanted to do, be a watcher I guess. So better here than anywhere else." There was a small pause as he searched for something else to say. "Is it hard? Being a slayer?"

Zildjain looked up at him when he asked his question. She smiled softly at him. "At first, yes it was but...I've been doing this for a couple years and it has gotten a lot easier. I guess I just learned how to handle myself and such.' Zildjain shurgged at the end of her sentence. She was excited about meeting someone other than a teacher here. 'Do you know who your slayer is going to be?"

"Not just yet, no. I'm looking forward to it, though. It should be a learning experience, anyway. I met a slayer. It was years ago but I met one. Before there was a whole bunch of you. That's why I wanted to become a watcher I guess. Of course, it was my choice. I know with you all it's fate and all that." He didn't think he'd have liked to have been born a slayer. not getting to guide your own fate bothered him. He had never believed in letting life drag you along. You picked the roads you went down. Unless of course you were a slayer.

Zildjain shrugged at him when he said it was her fate. "Everyone had a fate and destiny. Just some people's are more important than others. Not some people are more important but just the things that they were created to do.' Zildjain hoped that he didn't take it in a way of her being conceted, cause she wasn't. 'You know what I mean? You're a watcher and I'm a slayer. Just cause I'm stronger and faster than you doesn't mean that I'm better....Gah, i'm going to shut up now."

He smiled. "That's sweet. But you're wrong." He ran a hand through his hair trying to find the words he wanted. "It's like this. You and I, Watcher, Slayer, we both play our parts in this game. We both have things to do. But in the end, I'm the pawn and your the queen. I'm expendable and you... you're a slayer. You were chosen. I don't mean to say I'm not important.... actually maybe I do. Watchers are a dim a dozen. And to be honest, with all the new slayers, I'm starting to wonder if we are even needed. But you. The world needs you." Like it will never need me went unsaid.

Zildjain sat and listened to him and shook her head. "Never.' she smiled. 'Watchers are important. If it wasn't for watchers slayers wouldn't know what the hell to do. They would just kill kill kill and be killed killed killed.' She said softly. 'Enough talking about our morbid jobs. Do you have a girlfriend?" she questioned.

Fallyn coughed loudly at the question. It was lucky he wasn't eating something or he may have died. That was not the sort of question he was used to getting asked right off the bat. He also wasn't keen on answering it. He didn't know this girl well enough to get into the whole "Hi, I'm bi-sexual" thing. But she had asked. "No," he said. "I had someone but they broke up with me." He shrugged. "It was probably for the best." No need to tell her that his life no longer had meaning. "What about you? Boyfriend? Girlfriend?"
